Featured Grantee
The Center for Democracy in the Americas (CDA) is devoted to changing U.S. policy toward the countries of the Americas by basing their relations on mutual respect, fostering dialogue with those governments and movements with which U.S. policy is at odds, and recognizing positive trends in democracy and governance.
Their Cuba program seeks legalization of travel to Cuba for all Americans, and engagement with Cuba leading to normalization of relations. Their Venezuela program aims to promote civil discourse between Washington and Caracas and to understand how Venezuela’s political project affects U.S. interests in the region. More broadly, CDA tries to understand developments in the Americas, and to propose new policy approaches that will better serve the interests of the region and the United States.
CDA achieves their goals by leading fact-finding missions for U.S. delegations, working with U.S. policymakers on strategy, sponsoring and disseminating research, hosting events, and conducting public education and outreach via the news media and the Internet.
