Promotion of critical analysis of public policy and support for open discussion is of paramount importance in today’s society. Too often, however, our society’s leaders and influencers forgo thoughtful discourse of pertinent issues in the United States, opting for the easier course of accepting the status quo. When critique does arise, it frequently emanates from mainstream think tanks defined by their leanings towards moderate positions on critical issues. These critiques can be effective, but are not always successful at breaking conventional molds or creating alternative discussions in the United States.
The Drum Major Institute for Public Policy (DMI), a non-partisan, non-profit public policy think tank, is committed to doing think tank business differently. DMI challenges the tired orthodoxies of the right and left to generate well-messaged ideas in support of the larger movement for social and economic justice.
